accurate book is an excellent overview of the rich history
of piracy.
This book uses photographs of museum quality artifacts to
illustrate pirate lore. It starts with the Greeks, Romans and
Vikings, then expands into the heyday of piracy, the 16th to
18th centuries, and even into modernday movies.
All the great pirates are represented, Calico Jack Rackham,
Blackbeard, Anne Bonny, Mary Reed, and Henry Avery, to
name a few.
There are sections that also details what sort of food pirates
ate, types of treasure they plunder, and even what sorts of
punishment unruly crew members would suffer.
And to top it off, the book comes with a CD-ROM full of clip
art pictures of pirates.
